If sailing around the Croatian coastline eating food and drinking wine while getting paid sounds like your dream job, then you’re in luck!

We are currently hiring a ‘Taste Tester’ to hop aboard one of our brand new gourmet cruises completely free, trying out all of the food and wine experiences throughout the tour and offering their all-important feedback.

The Taste Tester will be responsible for sampling all of the food and wine offered aboard the ship and across the tour’s various excursions, providing feedback to the Cruise Croatia team so we can ensure you are continuing to offer a best in class product for everyone holidaying with us.

This opportunity will involve the successful applicant travelling aboard the October departure of our Food & Wine Cruise.

The exclusive opportunity pays £500 for your time and will involve the Taste Tester heading out on our 7-night Food and Wine Cruise departing on the 10th October 2020 and of course the accommodation and full tour inclusions will be provided free of charge.

Many people choose Croatia because of its fabulous island-hopping opportunities and magnificent oceanic views. More and more wine connoisseurs and foodies are now recognising Croatia as the place to go to sample the distinctive wine types that are growing in popularity. If you’re a wine lover, Croatia has 64 distinct grape types, over 800 wineries and almost 20,000  registered wine-makers to tempt you to visit.

Croatia Food & Wine Cruise

For a long time wine production in Croatia was divided into two groups – Continental wine production and Coastal wine production. More recently, the country’s wine experts, wine producers and sommeliers devised a new classification of four wine regions – Dalmatia, Uplands, Slavonia & Danube, and Istria & Kvarner.

You will travel from the medieval city of Split to the ancient walled city of Dubrovnik, taking in the Croatian coastline and Dalmatian islands along the way. The luxury cruise also offers guided city tours of Split and Dubrovnik, plus entry to the spectacular Krka Waterfalls National Park.

Aboard the ship sumptuous breakfast and 4-course lunches, and of course local wine is provided. Plus, the wine expert Cruise Director will provide on-board wine lectures to increase your knowledge and appreciation of the splendid drink.

You will visit this famous winery in the tranquil island of Vis and get to sample the delicious wines from the Lipanović family, within the wine cellar, on the edge of the main town, surrounded by gorgeous rolling countryside. The winemaking tradition of the island was implanted when the first Lipanović arrived on the island and planted a vine.  Production is not based on quantity, but towards the superior grape quality, and with that, quality wine. With 23,000 bottles of annual production, this local wine can not compare to the big producers, but numerous awards justify the quality of these wines.

Our friendly hosts will show you some of the wines, such as the Kurteloška, Palaruša, Palagružonka, Glavanjuša and you will have a chance to sample some of Croatia’s

Tomic Winery, Hvar Island

This fabulous new winery is situated in Jelsa, a small coastal town with a long winemaking tradition. They produce between 130,000 and 150,000 bottles a year, constantly enhancing the production of red, white and rosé wines. They pride themselves on the production of their signature wine, ‘Prošek’ – the original Dalmatian desert wine made from selected and dried grapes of the highest quality local varieties. The tasting venue is buried in stone below the winery and modelled on an ancient Roman dining room.

This wine boutique is based in the wine cellar of the charming and renovated family house, in the old town center and you will be sure to taste some of the Croatia’s finest wines during this tour.

Oyster Harvesting in Ston

We take an enjoyable trip to the mainland with a visit to the fortified fishing village of Ston, near Slano. Here you’ll be able to gaze up at its medieval ramparts before taking a traditional local boat to an authentic oyster farm. You will learn about the village’s most famous delicacy and taste a selection of natural, freshly caught delicious oysters and mussels.

Of course, this will be washed down with the local wine and homemade ‘rakia’ (local brandy) too.

Home-hosted Local Cooking Experience

Enjoy a truly special farewell dinner, a home hosted cooking experience in a rural mountain location near Dubrovnik in a remote hillside location, Kameni Dvori. Enjoy cooking with the matriarch of the family and learn more about their 500-year heritage as you prepare traditional farm to table dishes.

This healthy traditional cuisine has been passed on from one generation to the next for thousands of years and the family will share these precious secrets with you.
