Frequently asked questions

Croatia adopted the Euro in January 2023. For payment of all purchases on shore and on board the ship, Euros are required. It’s recommended that you take sufficient Euros with you to cover the cost of meals and drinks on some of the smaller islands of Croatia.

In the city of Dubrovnik and the towns of Split and Hvar, you can use credit cards and also withdraw funds from ATMs. However, credit cards are not accepted on board the ship. Should you need extra cash, your Cruise Manager can direct you to local currency exchange offices and ATM machines.

Visitors from America, Canada, Great Britain, Australia, and New Zealand do not require a visa to travel to Croatia. Guests from South Africa, however, will require a Schengen visa to enter the country. Before you leave home for your luxury Croatian cruise, please ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months and that your visa is also valid, if this is required. Travel insurance is also your responsibility.

If you can’t decide whether you’d enjoy Croatia more by sea or land, we’d recommend you take the time to do both. Our cruise and land tours allow you to experience this magnificent country in a way that’s uniquely yours, and at your own pace. Whether you’d like to stay in Croatia, or go a bit further into Montenegro, Italy, or Greece, you’ll get the best of both worlds. Spend some of your time exploring the coastline among the waves, and the rest on a private land tour among the fragrant vineyards and cobblestone streets.

The most popular time of year for a Croatia cruise is during the summer months from July through August. You can expect hot and sunny weather, with the warmest sea temperatures that are perfect for taking a dip, snorkelling, and jet skiing. However, this will also be the busiest time with the most crowds and highest prices, so if you’d still like to explore Croatia in pleasant weather while it’s quieter, the months of May, June, September, and October may be best.
