Gulet Charters

The hand-picked gulet cruises we operate are perfect for 10-14 guests who are accommodated in the 5-7 modern double or twin cabins, all of which are fully air-conditioned and en-suite. Skippered by a professional crew including an onboard chef, meals are a focal point on our Croatia gulet cruises with outstanding gourmet cuisine. Meals are typically served on the vessel’s outdoor dining area, perfect for enjoying a delicious 3 course meal whilst watching the sunset in a secluded bay. Our gulets are fully fitted with an abundance of water toys, including stand-up paddle boards, snorkelling equipment, Jet skis, and direct access to the sea. The benefit of sailing on a smaller vessel is the ability to dock in hidden bays and enjoy uninterrupted swimming stops in crystal clear water. Guests who are looking to relax and top up their tans can relax on the expansive sundecks, all of which are fitted with lounge areas and sunbeds. Many of the newer vessels also feature a Jacuzzi on the sundeck.

Gulet Interior

What is a Gulet

A gulet is a traditional wooden sailing vessel. They’re beautifully crafted to embody the charm of the Mediterranean region. They’re most commonly found cruising the coasts of Greece and Turkey (where they originated), but may be seen throughout the Aegean and Mediterranean seas. While they were originally used for trade and fishing, they have evolved into popular vessels for leisurely cruising. Gulets typically range from about 50 to 100 feet in length and have two or three masts. Most are motor-powered but can also sail when conditions are favorable. They provide spacious decks and elegant interiors with high sides, a wide beam, and ample space. A fully crewed charter, gulets combine modern amenities with classic craftsmanship to provide a comfortable and relaxed sailing experience. The layout of the vessels often includes a kitchen, saloon, large outdoor spaces for dining and sunbathing, and comfortable cabins with modern bathrooms and air conditioning.

Gulet Crew

Gulet Crew

On a gulet charter, the crew includes a professional captain who is supported by four crew members. All are focused on delivering an exceptional, personalized experience for guests. The captain is responsible for navigating the waterways, ensuring safety, and managing the overall operation of the gulet. As an expert with in-depth knowledge of the region, the captain often provides valuable insight into the local ports and sailing routes. There will be a chef preparing meals that cater to guests’ preferences and dietary requirements, ensuring the vessel is well-stocked while also picking up local ingredients along the way. Typically, a deckhand is included to assist the captain with sailing operations and maintenance of the yacht. Other crew members may include a host or hostess taking care of guests. They may provide meal service, drinks, cabin upkeep, and local recommendations, along with other responsibilities that help ensure all guests enjoy a memorable experience.

Gulet Catering

Gulet Catering

When you book a gulet charter, you can select from various food and beverage packages. Most choose half board meals, which you’ll see listed as HB. The cost varies from about $400 to $570 (USD) per person, per week, depending on the menu type. This option includes two meals per day: breakfast and lunch or dinner. Dinner usually isn’t included, with the evening free for guests to sample cuisine in the local restaurants. Full board (FB) includes all three meals per day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). This is an ideal option for those who prefer dining onboard, with the cost ranging from about $625 to $795 (USD). While rare for gulets, some gulets offer all-inclusive packages that include food, soft drinks, and sometimes alcohol. The price will depend on the particular menu and drink selection. Special menus catering to dietary requirements and preferences can be arranged, such as gluten-free and vegetarian.

Gulet Excursions

Gulet Excursions

On a gulet charter, you’ll typically enjoy daily swim stops and other water sports with equipment onboard like kayaks, snorkeling gear, and various toys. But there are also opportunities for land excursions that immerse guests in the rich history and culture of the destinations. While the crew will organize these experiences, they all come at an additional cost. Guests will pay the supplier directly for each excursion. As these are optional, it’s up to you as to the number and type of excursions you’ll enjoy. They can vary depending on the region but often include opportunities to delve into the local food scene, such as a walking food tour or cooking class, wine tasting while learning about the winemaking process, exploring coastal villages, nature reserves, historic landmarks, and archaeological sites. You might take a craft workshop or even follow in the footsteps of a local to experience authentic daily life.
